It's Empire of the Sun vs. the robots. The band is calling out Daft Punk.
In an interview with NME.com, singer Luke Steele says that Daft Punk has "a great marketing campaign, but we've got better songs." Steele says he was aware that Daft Punk's latest record Random Access Memories was getting more press coverage, than their Ice On The Dune, which hit stores in June.
Nevertheless, he "wasn't too concerned" about it. He says Ice On The Dune has a number of great songs that will "hang around a lot longer than some of those other records."
Steele also opened up about the group's next record. He says it will be a "prequel," adding that it will reflect a kid's discovery with "girls, sherbet, surfing, and getting drunk."
