Liberty Student Dies At Crabtree Falls

A Liberty University student has died after a fall at Crabtree Falls. Faith Helbig was 18 and a freshman at Liberty. She was from New Jersey.

A Nelson County Sheriff's Deputy told ABC-13 that a group of Liberty U students hiked to the top of Crabtree Falls, and at least one of them crossed over a barrier to take pictures shortly before 6 p.m. Faith reportedly slipped on wet rocks and fell to her death at least 100 feet below.

28 people have lost their lives at Crabtree Falls.

In November 2011, a Liberty student was struck and killed by a train in Amherst while walking with a group of students on the train trestle that crosses the James River from Lynchburg into Amherst. Another student was seriously injured.  photo: ABC 13
